Since our last blog we have taken a pool challenge, a nutrition challenge, a spin (cycle) challenge and a strength challenge.
So how did our family do?
Pool challenge – my family can’t swim so we did okay. Actually no one swam, we all walked. Will did not do too bad he came in 3rd (I think) and Chris came in 5th (I think)! I have a HUGE fear of water so I accomplished a goal of over coming my fear even though I came is last. I only had 31 laps in 30 minutes.
Nutrition challenge – we did not get the results back yet, but I feel pretty confident about this one. Hopefully I can say I finally won a challenge (without the help of my family)!
Spin challenge – we did not do too bad. We did not place in 1st, 2nd or 3rd this time. I was a little disappointed in myself because I ride the stationary bikes all the time so I thought I was pretty prepare. Oh well! I rode 10.5 miles in 20 minutes. Will rode 9 miles – he always said that was not his strong suit. His goal was to be steady and persistent. Chris did a little better than me. She had 10.9 miles with a bum knee that day!
Strength challenge – we had to do 4 things: dips, planks, wall sits and push-ups. Chris won two and Will won two. I place in 3rd on the dips, right behind Chris (1st) and Will (2nd). I’m not sure how I placed on the others. I know I did not come in last in anything! I thought when I heard strength challenge it would consist of weight lifting so that’s how I prepared. Maybe the weight lifting helped, it certainly did not hurt.
I’m not losing pounds that much but I am losing inches and eating correctly, that’s the important point. I lost about 15 inches. Will’s goal was to bulk up and he is. Christian’s goal is to have better endurance and she does.
I am not as competitive or athletic as Will and Christian (his junior!). But I am enjoying myself and I’m enjoying the fellowships.
